There was once a little boy named John who lived with his parents.  He lives in a poor family.  His family relies on his father’s work, fishing, to make a living. One day while his father was fishing, he hooked up a silver box.  He thought it was trash, so he took the box home and decide to throw it away.  After dinner, he rethought that box. He thought it weird to hook on a silver box.  Finally, his curiosity urges him to open the box.  After opening it, he was so shocked…

     Inside the box, there was a fishing rod and a note. The note says: This is a magic rod, you can hook whichever kind of fish that you want.  However, you can only use the rod once a day. If you use it more than once a day, you will lose an important thing instead.  That means, if you use it once, it’s OK.  However, if you use it twice, you will lose one important thing.  The more you use, the more you lose.  After seeing this note, all the members of John’s family all feel glad.  They think they can make a fortune as long as they use it only once a day.  

     For the next day, John’s father uses the magic rod to hook a rare fish and sell it for a lot  amount of money.  However, a bad idea came up in John’s mind. He decided to try to use the rod for another time.  At first, he lost his watch.  Instead of being sad, he feels happy.  He thought he was going to be a millionaire.  Then he used the rod repeatedly.  He then lost his cellphone, television, computer, bicycle, and even his house.  At this time, the only mind he can think of is using the rod.  His parents noticed that and finally decided to stop him, but it was too late… 

     As the last fish he hooked up, his mother disappeared immediately.  At that time, John finally felt regret, but it is of no use to cry over the spilled water.  However, his dad then started to chant a spell and then throw the rod back to the sea.  It was the father’s worry that he hides the truth of the smallest note, writing that “ If you ever feel regret, just read out this spell and throw the rod back to the sea.  After that, everything will disappear.”  

     In the end, John realizes his fault and his family came back to the original but happy life again.
